Q. What's not included?
A. Additional services and rates:
GST. Goods and Service Tax of 3% is being introduced as from 1st May 2008. All hires commencing on or after 1st May 2008 will be subject to the 3% GST. If you book and PRE-PAY for car rental commencing on or after 1st May 2008 the GST of 3% will be exempt. All rentals commencing after 1st May 2008 and are PRE-PAID will be subject to GST of 3%. (‘’PRE-PAY’’ means Pre Payment to the Jersey vehicle supplier using www.avisjersey.co.uk or by phoning Avis on 0800 735 1110 / 00 44 1534 495000. Any other form of Pre Payment with a third party does not qualify for GST exemption.

Q. Should I take out Cancellation Protection when booking?
A. Cancellation Protection is available for just 1-3 days £5.00 4 days and over £10.00. If you purchase Cancellation Protection at time of booking and you are unable to honour your booking prior to the collection date, Avis Jersey will refund all charges except the cancellation protection portion.
Without Cancellation Protection, the following refunds will apply:
28 days before start date of hire 50% refund
7-28 days before start date of hire 25% refund
0-7 days before start date of hire No refund
No refunds will be given for rentals ended early, late collections, no shows or cancellations made after the rental start date even if Cancellation Protection has been purchased.
Q. What's the maximum period of rental?
A. There is no minimum or maximum rental period. Rental periods
of less than 24 hours are charged at the applicable 1 day rate.
We do however allow a 3 hour "grace period" before an extra day's
charge is made. If you wish to extend the rental period after collection
of the car, or if you return the car late, you will be charged the relevant rate.
Q. What are the age restrictions?
A. The following age restrictions apply:
Groups A,B,C,F,J & K - minimum driver age 20 years (full licence for minimum 1 year)
Groups D & E - minimum driver age 23 years (full licence for minimum 1 year)
All other groups – minimum driver age 25 years (full license for minimum 1 year)
All Groups - Avis do not have a maximum age limit.
Q. Are fuel charges included?
A. Fuel charges are not included in our inclusive rates.
All vehicles are supplied with half a tank of fuel on collection.
We have estimated the average amount of fuel that customers are
likely to use for each group of car according to the length of hire,
and will be charged accordingly at local prevailing rates.
Q. Will I get my choice of vehicle?
A. Whilst we note your preference of vehicle type which
we will endeavour to supply we cannot guarantee a particular
make or model of car. You may be given an alternative
similar or upgrade car at no extra cost.
Q. Will I need to bring my driving licence?
A. To hire a car in Jersey it is imperative that you remember to
bring your original driving licence. If you have any serious endorsements on your licence
this may affect your right to hire and therefore
we suggest that you advise us in advance.
Q. Can I take the vehicle off the island?
A. It is not possible to take any rental vehicle off the island, they can only be used in Jersey.
